How Sisterlocks changed my Life.

A journey of faith, purpose, and becoming

I didn’t just install Sisterlocks—I stepped into alignment with who I was always meant to be.

When I first encountered Sisterlocks, I had no idea how deeply they would transform my life. What started as a hairstyle choice became a mirror, a ministry, and a mission. Sisterlocks didn’t just change my hair—they changed how I saw myself, how I served others, and how I walked in purpose.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
—Ephesians 2:10

A lesson in patience and trust

Sisterlocks taught me patience in a way nothing else ever had. There is no rushing this journey. Each phase—starter, budding, teen, mature—demands surrender. You must trust the process even when it looks messy, uneven, or unfinished.

That lesson spilled into my life. I learned that growth doesn’t always look glamorous. Sometimes becoming requires sitting still, enduring awkward seasons, and believing that God is still working—even when the evidence hasn’t fully shown up yet.

“Let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
—James 1:4

Identity beyond appearance

In a world that constantly tells women who to be, how to look, and what’s acceptable, Sisterlocks helped me quiet the noise. As my hair loc’d, so did my confidence. I stopped hiding. I stopped shrinking. I stopped apologizing for taking up space.

I began to understand that beauty rooted in authenticity is unshakable. My hair became a reflection of freedom—freedom from comparison, from unrealistic standards, and from the need for external validation.

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
—1 Samuel 16:7

From personal journey to purpose

What I didn’t expect was how my own Sisterlocks journey would turn into my calling. Becoming a loctician wasn’t just about hair—it was about care. I found myself holding space for women during vulnerable moments: transitions, healing seasons, new beginnings, grief, growth, and rebirth.

Behind the chair, I witnessed how deeply connected our hair is to our health, our emotions, and our spirituality. Sisterlocks gave me the opportunity to educate, empower, and pour into others—through Locked with Love Studio and beyond.

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men.”
—Colossians 3:23

Faith woven into every strand

This journey strengthened my faith. There were moments of doubt, exhaustion, and fear—but God met me there. Every client, every class, every challenge reminded me that this work was never just mine. I was being used as a vessel.

Sisterlocks became a daily reminder that God specializes in slow, intentional work. Just like locs, He forms us strand by strand—carefully, purposefully, and with love.

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
—Philippians 1:6

More than hair—it’s a lifestyle

Today, Sisterlocks represent wholeness to me. Health. Discipline. Self-respect. Community. Calling. They symbolize choosing alignment over approval and purpose over pressure.

My life looks different because of this journey—and I am grateful.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
—Proverbs 3:5–6

If you’re considering Sisterlocks, know this: you’re not just choosing a hairstyle. You’re choosing a path that invites growth, patience, and self-discovery. And if you’re already on the journey, trust that every stage is preparing you for what’s next.
